Bringing Relief to California Wine Country

Sustainability Criteria: Social Impact, Materials & Circularity

Client: EIS

Event:
 ENGAGE – VIP Users Conference

Destination:
 Sonoma, CA – USA

Challenge: EIS sought to achieve several objectives for its inaugural VIP users conference: to create an engaging and rich in-person experience; to create a “giving back” program that resonated with the needs of Sonoma’s citizens – who had survived a devastating chain of wildfires – and with the essence of EIS’ information technology; to exist among those organizations committed to being a socially responsible business.

Solution: EIS created a rich “giving back” program that presented attendees the opportunity to participate in something that they could be proud of while also leaving a positive impression for the community of Sonoma residents: a promotion that encouraged attendees to donate unused hotel toiletries, where EIS would match each individual toiletry with a $1 donation.

Upon the conclusion of the conference, toiletries were repurposed and delivered to “SOS,” Sonoma Overnight Support, a homeless shelter; the effort yielded $2,500 which was donated to La Luz — a local community organization that teaches English as a second language and which operates a computer learning lab — to purchase new hardware. A bonus resulting from the outcome was a positive act that EIS could talk about and which instilled a sense of pride among the EIS workforce.
